Gary's work begins on a raw piece of material, often limestone. Basic shaping is roughly chisled before the intricate carving takes place.
Once Gary is happy with the shaping of the piece the stone is smoothed to a fine finish giving it an appearance that differs completely from the unhewn rock that started the process.
Finally he tags it with his Mason's Mark -

This is the process for Gary's latest work, 'A Thousand Thrills' which he will be exhibiting at the Royal Bath and West Show.
More of Gary's sculptures can be seen on the Sculptures page.
